Report: Russia’s coal output, exports to remain flat in 2023–2024
MOSCOW, Dec 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s production and exports of coal will remain flat on the year in 2023 and maintain the same dynamics in 2024, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said in an interview to Rossiya 24 television channel broadcast on Wednesday.
“Regarding coal, we are staying at the level of the previous year in both production and exports,” he said.
Russia’s average daily production of natural gas has been growing in November and December. Exports of pipeline gas to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will rise in 2024. Exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will rise slightly in 2023 and grow further next year, Shulginov said.
He said that power exports will contract to around 10 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2023 from 13.5 billion kWh in 2022. However, the ministry expects supplies to China to recover in 2024.
“Power exports to China fell due to an unsatisfactory power balance in the Far East … I think that we will restore the power balance next year, and if the water content of the rivers stays at least at an average level, we will be able to resume our supplies to China,” he said.
